Water Baby: 8 Months

Emma's eight month birthday celebration kicked off much like her seventh one did the month before; at the beach. This time around it was slightly different when Emma noticed everyone seemed to be paying a little more attention to her Daddy on the 25th of May than her. Sorry baby girl, it's hard to be born on the same day of the month as everyone else in your family.

She recovered pretty quickly and was able to celebrate the rest of the month with various trips to the pool, park, and her first lake experience. Emma continued to fall somewhere between a 2 and 3 nap a day routine; her awake time spent being entertained by her sister and of course stealing the hearts of anyone near with her precious smile.

We love you baby girl and continue to shake our head in wonder at how vast and fierce our love can be for someone we have only known 8 months.

Happy Birthday to me... Happy Birthday to me... Happy Birthday to Emma... Happy Birthday to me.

Wait- so it's Daddy's birthday too. I don't understand... we are going to sing to him?

I heard he is 34 years old... whoa... that seems like a lot. Is it?

It is... it's a lot.

It's okay Daddy, I'll play you some music.

Don't worry, I'll even turn it up so you can hear it with your old ears.

When you get tired feel free to just lay out and rest Daddy, that's what I do.

Or just hang out in your bed.

Sometimes seeing yourself in the mirror can be shocking... so approach it slowly. Don't worry you only look old to you... to everyone else you look great.

Getting outside and being active is also supposed to combat the feeling of old age. You could try strawberry picking, that's what I did.

I prefer to focus on the outside part and not so much the active part, being carried about really does wonders for my energy level.

I'm gonna be real honest right now... I know the whole blogger world goes nuts for things like berry picking.

But it was totally miserable.

Sure I looked cute while we were doing it, but it was hot and sticky, and unlike all the Pinterest links Mommy saw, it was not a great lesson in where our food comes from. Maybe next year.

Hey Nannie, has anyone ever invited you to pick strawberries? Take my advice... don't go.

Really, it's best to just stay here in the cool house and find reasons to celebrate people- like Daddy's Day!

I'd say we had a great day- much better than strawberry picking- that's for sure.

Maybe picking your food isn't so bad after all..... I mean what could be worse than sitting in this cart listening to your sister scream about how you keep touching her cup? "Who me?"

Even though Mia wouldn't share her cup with me, she was kind enough to pass on these pj's. Too bad she didn't pass on all the buttons as well.

She also shared her duck bathtub with me for our big trip to the lake. I liked it so much, I decided...

To try and make a duck face myself.

The lake turned out to be loads of fun. We took my superstar stage and I mastered pulling down the saxophone key.

After I sang the blues, I took my first boat ride.

I think we should go South Captain Dennis...
Wait.. maybe the wind is pointing us North.

Or maybe back to the house would be best...

For naptime.

I love being on the boat, but sometimes it's nice to come in for a break and rest.

Although you have to be careful... if you rest too much you might miss all the fun...

Daddy... Daddy... it's 5:00 am... open your eyes... the day is getting away.

We've got things to do, like watch Mia fish.

And ride in our air plane.

And hang out with GG & DenDen.

See... I knew you would be glad you got up...

Sleeping in is for the birds! Happy 8 months to me!
