We are 2/3's of the way through Mia's first year of life and there are still days when I wonder if we will ever have this "having a baby thing" completely figured out. What I can say, is if that day does ever occur, it will most likely not occur while our sweet baby is still a baby.
Sorry Mia, hindsight is 20/20 they say.
John and I often discuss life before our sweet baby; how easy it seemed, and how even on the most spit-up trenched days I would not ever for one second care to be in that spot again. Any life where you don't have a built in alarm clock can't really be all that great. The joy Mia brings us is immeasurable, and we thank God for our little alarm clock everyday. How I wish I could freeze the days and enjoy them forever, all the while enjoying all the wonderful things I know are to come. Since I know I can't, I hope to preserve a few memories by mentioning them here. One day when my sweet baby is off driving around her friends in her Daddy's car, I will look back at them and will be reminded of how perfect she was.
Mia's Top Eight at Eight...
1. Flipping the pages of her board books back and forth and back again. This is her new favorite pastime. When our sweet baby girl gets particularly giddy whether it be over Dr. Suess or something else, she rubs her feet together in excitement, as if she cannot contain herself any longer. The best part of all of this however, comes at the end when due to the excitement she looks down and realizes that "oh my word" she has feet. That is when the squeals begin, and my heart melts... again.
2. Rolling over. Right before Christmas Mia finally indulged us and rolled over front to back. Naturally, I swooped in with our flip in hand for her follow-up performance... it never came. Three months later I was still waiting (many flip videos have been taken when I was certain it was about to happen) when Mia decided the time again was finally right. After a few spoiled naps where she wake up in terror from being on her belly, she finally seems comfortable with her ability to flip around however she likes.
3. Daddy. This baby girl LOVES her Daddy. When Mr. Eanes walks in the room, Mia's eyes light up and her little mouth stretches to lengths I did not know where possible. She is enamored with him until he actually holds her and then she quickly looks around- anywhere but directly at Daddy. The whole thing is quite comical to watch.
4. Her rattle. Mia loves, loves, loves her rattle. And, while she has always enjoyed it, the rattle has lately found itself in the clutch toy starting line up.
5. Prevacid. At three weeks old Mia was diagnosed with reflux. After trying all the home remedies we could, we finally decided the best decision for our newborn was compounded prevacid. Thankfully, Mia has always taken the medicine really well... which is a blessing considering she gets it twice a day everyday. Lately when I pull the bottle out of the fridge and fill up her little syringe she begins talking and rubbing her feet together. If you think she's excited check out her feet... they tell all every time.
6. Otis. How could you not love your very own black and white puppy?
7. Smile Squint. Sometime during her eighth month, Mia started squinting her eyes shut in order to smile when she gets really excited.
8. Her big girl stroller. Mia discovered a whole new world when she started sitting forward in her stroller. She is super excited about and so is Mommy, pushing around a jogging stroller with an infant seat is hard work.
This slimy stuff dripping out of my nose makes everything taste better. Want some?
Almost there, just a little further.
Now I can see where I am going.
We took a road trip to the Outer Banks to watch Daddy run in his 5k. It was so cold and windy, I had to cheer Daddy on from the car. Run, Daddy, run.
Daddy, I'm not sure how to tell you this, but you kinda smell.
You got 3rd place in your age group... yay Daddy!
I dressed up as a pirate to cheer Mommy on for her first half since I was born. Being a pirate is very serious business.
Bellamy, I will trade you 2 yellow and 1 purple link for that toy.
Hey guys, look at that adult on the right... what a crazy face she is making. Maybe if we all smile they will let us get back to playing soon.
Pirate practice with the Daddy's.
Wow Mia, sand! That sounds really fun... I want to go!
No, Caden, we cannot get to the sand by way of this box. We need something with wheels.

Caden and I decided to play with sand another time and keep it local for our first official date. My mom drove. I guess if he has those links he probably isn't going to hold my hand...
I love being eight months old!
