A Formal Affair

After months of practice walking around in Mommy's shoes, and carefully selecting the perfect combination of Mardi Gras beads for my outfits time and again, the time had finally come to attend Aunt Libby's wedding. I am not certain why, with all the fashion knowledge I obviously possess, it took someone 21 months to invite me to attend their wedding. I do believe it takes a special person not to be overwhelmed with my inherent sense of taste and style; Aunt Libby is clearly that person.

And so, on my 21st month birthday Mama, Dada, and I boarded a plane to Watercolor, Florida, to see Aunt Libby tell Fiance Chris he could officially be my uncle.

Yes, yes I will be here all week and expect my chariot out back to tote me to and from the beach.

What are we waiting on people? I have an umbrella to get to.

Nothing like a little sand and salt water to wash your cares away... I mean if I had cares that's what I would say.

Ok Lottie, let me show you... pat one, two, three.

So that is why it is called Watercolor.

Excuse me, I believe there has been a misunderstanding... I am actually supposed to be in the house.

After the earlier mishap I decided I was better off driving myself to the pool than letting the adults be in charge.

So, I drove us all the way here just so we could jump into this thing? Are you sure about this Dada?

Listen Aunt Libby, I know we are practicing for your special day and all but there are a few things we need to set straight...

Make no mistake, I will be walking down that aisle with my Granddad. You can come if you want... I guess.

There... isn't that nice. All three of us headed to meet Fiance Chris at the end of the aisle.

Wait... you mean after all that rehearsing I still don't get to stay up for the shrimp boil?

After everyone else had their fill of shrimp, Aunt Libby spent the whole next day getting ready for the big moment. I, on the other hand, went to the beach.

When I saw her I suddenly realized that Aunt Libby is secretly Wedding Day Barbie. I figured the least I could do was let her have her big moment to herself. So, I decided to do the right thing and let her shine alone...

Instead of insisting I walk down the aisle with Granddad, I sat in this guys lap the whole ceremony. Supposedly he is my Great Uncle, but I couldn't be sure since I've only seen him once before. I would say his lap is pretty cozy regardless of who he is.

The next day we were totally worn out from all that quiet lap sitting we had to do. Granddad and I took a break on the couch.

Later, when Aunt Libby and my new Uncle took off for Costa without me I went to the splash park for one last hurrah.

At first I was a little nervous with all that water shooting out everywhere, but I eventually came around.

I am 21 months old water and you are not the boss of me.

After all that splashing I thought a little lunch was in order before we had to head back to the NC.

Well, the plane is clearly not as fun the splash park, but these raisins do seem to take the sting away from us having to leave.

Congratulations Aunt Libby and Uncle Chris! Thanks for inviting me to my first formal affair!
