Two Months Going On... Seven?
It's hard to believe it has been two months since we welcomed Mia into our family and in that same breath I will say it seems like she has been here forever. The past two months have been a whirlwind and I feel so thankful I get to stay home with Mia and experience that wind everyday- regardless of how strong it sometimes gets! In her two short months of life Mia has already traveled to more cities in NC than I did in my first six months living here at age 26, she has flown to two different states (we're going to go ahead and count the Atlanta airport as time spent in Georgia!), and experienced her first bit of car trouble in a place I like to call Nowhere, NC. If this time in her life serves as a precursor for how the rest will be, I have a feeling she will love to travel just like her Mom! While we wonder what she will like in the future, here are a few things she loves now...
1. Sucking on her hand- when she can find it! Her thumb has even been spotted in her mouth- it's super cute.
2. Laying on her changing table- John and I often wonder if there is some magical power about that table.
3. Being held- of course, who wouldn't.
4. Taking a bath- unfortunately the same cannot be said for exiting the bath- which makes bath time bittersweet at our house!
5. Eating- I often wonder where she got this from...
As she continues to grow more and more each day, John and I are also enjoying some things of our own...
1. Her smile- it melts my heart every time.
2. Her cooing- precious defined.
3. Her new sleep schedule- the past three nights Mia has slept from about 10:30 until 6:30am- this morning she even added in a bonus hour and slept till 7:30.
4. Her smell- I can often be found sniffing her throughout the day and am hoping this will not lead to some later counseling issues. :)
Aside from the 3 shots and 1 oral vaccination we had to get today at the doctor, the trip went well. Dr. Warner reaffirmed everything that John and I already knew about Mia- she's perfect! Here are her 2 month stats:
Length- 24 inches/ 95th percentile
Weight- 14lbs 7oz/ >97th percentile
As Mr. Eanes and I discussed our questions for today's appointment I asked him if it were possible to be in the 100th percentile for something. He laughed and told me that would mean Mia was above every other baby in the country, and so no it was not possible... and then I went to the doctor. When I saw the greater than 97th percentile on the paper I questioned the nurse about it, who matter-of-factly stated... "your baby is off the charts". I was thinking it was probably not good practice for medical professionals to use such dramatic cliches when the doctor came in and showed me that Mia literally is "off the charts"! Although I am not quite certain who created it (probably Mr. Bell himself), but someone has created a bell curve of normal statistics for babies. Each time we go to the doctor for these check-ups they take Mia's head circumference, length, and weight, and plot it on a graph in relation to the standard curve. This visit, while the doctor is talking to me about the curve, I am straining to see the recent plot point for Mia when I suddenly realize why I can't see it... it isn't on the curve. Mia' weight point is much higher than the curve and lines up with the average statistics of a 61/2 month old baby! Dr. Warner is not at all concerned and said my biggest complaint from it all will most likely be people inquiring as to why our two month old isn't sitting up or crawling! At which point in conversation I will just have to reaffirm that yes, she is indeed just 2 months old. Dr. Warner feels certain that at about 6 months Mia's growth will taper off.... I wonder though, when Mia refused to turn in the womb I had a feeling she wasn't going to be baby that settled for average!
Happy Reading!

That is so funny about her size. Our friend Amanda just had her babie's six month check up and her stats were: 19 lbs and 27.5 inches! I can't wait to see her next weekend!
